Finishing Process

Who does the building?
Because custom, handcrafted log homes are generally more costly to build, many companies promote Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects to save money. Certainly, a well-informed, experienced home owner/builder can take this route and save money.  However, it’s been our experience that most owners lack the time, knowledge, skill, contacts and vision to pull the project off to their satisfaction. For all but the most experienced, we recommend that a professional builder be hired.

Maple Island does not work with dealer representatives or have finishing builders on staff.  However, we may be able to provide tips and some assistance in your search for a qualified log home builder in your area.  We are also available to answer questions and communicate directly with your chosen builder in the completion of your log home project.

Interior Design & Landscaping:
Maple Island’s in-house design staff custom designs many unique homes for clients each year. Occasionally, a home buyer may elect to enlist the services of a favored designer or architect. We are always happy to work with any outside architect.

You’ll need to contract with the builder or contractors of your choice for installation of all plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and cooling systems, cabinetry, flooring, wall coverings, tile and the like. Landscape design is also the responsibility of the owner.  Most will contract a licensed landscape architect for plans, designs, and actual installation of materials and plants.

The Maple Island staff is available to answer questions and assist your selected contractors or builder throughout the finishing of your handcrafted log home.  We always look forward to staying in touch with our clients and seeing their completed log home.  Send us a picture or three when your home is completed!
